If you’re craving an authentic taste of Ecuadorian cuisine right in the heart of Jamaica, NY, Delicias Cuencanas Restaurant is an absolute must-visit. This cozy eatery, nestled at 17218 Hillside Ave., offers a warm, intimate dining experience across its modest 8 to 10 table seating, where every detail reflects the passion and soul of Ecuador’s rich culinary heritage.
Delicias Cuencanas masterfully showcases Ecuador’s vibrant flavors through a thoughtfully curated menu. Begin your meal with their fresh and zesty Ensalada De Camaron, a vibrant blend of crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, crunchy carrots, red onions, and cucumbers, tossed with succulent shrimp – a refreshing starter priced at US$18.37. For something lighter, the creamy Ensalada De Aguacate offers the smooth richness of avocado in a simple, flavorful salad for US$11.02.
The heartier fare here reflects true Ecuadorian tradition. The signature Bandeja Ecuatoriana is a magnificent symphony of textures and tastes: perfectly grilled steak, crispy chicharrón, two golden fried eggs, creamy avocado, sweet fried plantain, rice, and beans – all harmonizing on one plate for US$23.00. If you prefer something with a touch of savory sweetness, the Bistek Encebollado presents tender steak simmered with onions, paired traditionally with rice, beans, sweet plantains, and a refreshing salad at US$19.29. Seafood lovers will find delight in the Arroz Con Camarones, shrimp cooked to tender perfection served over fragrant rice for US$20.00, or the aromatic Camarones Al Ajillo, garlic shrimp accompanied by rice, salad, and sweet plantain for the same price, offering a perfect balance of garlicky indulgence and hearty sides.
The dining atmosphere here feels like a welcoming family gathering, where attentive service enhances the experience. Reviewers frequently praise the staff’s warmth and knowledge – from the personalized food recommendations to the genuine hospitality they extend. Rodrigo Hidalgo captures this beautifully, noting how the service and presentation elevate the small, intimate environment into something extraordinary. Meanwhile, long-time patrons like Berenice Olmos rave about both the consistently generous portions and the heartfelt kindness of the owners, highlighting the rich sensorial delight of house-made hot chocolate, a secret treat not found in typical instant packets.
For those new to Ecuadorian cuisine, Delicias Cuencanas leaves a lasting impression. First-timers, like the Filipino guest ArNoLd, marvel at the depth of flavor and authenticity, while sophia e calls it the “best Spanish and Ecuadorian restaurant” she has ever visited, highlighting spotless cleanliness and superb service. Even JP Williams, a devoted fan, singles out the fried fish with its zesty lime green sauce as a pinnacle of culinary pleasure.
Delicias Cuencanas isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a heartfelt invitation to experience Ecuador’s culinary treasures in a setting that feels both authentically local and personally inviting. Whether you’re a devoted food enthusiast or a curious newcomer, this hidden gem in Queens warmly welcomes you to savor every bite and every moment.

I have been visiting this restaurant for almost 7 years, I enjoy their food a lot, it's very good and decently priced. The owners are great people and very kind. I recommend this restaurant, their portions are very good for the price. On a side note, you need to try their hot chocolate, they don't use the instant packets so its delicious! Empanadas de queso, sopa de pata, cuban sandwich and pechuga empanizada are our favorite dishes from here

This is my favorite Equadorian in Queens. At the moment in the whole city. The place inside seats anywhere from 12-16 people. On the outside 8-12. I regularly order their fried fish, the lime with the green sauce on it is fantastic. I recommend this to any looking for a quiet and pleasurable meal.
